The Teen Drawing & Mixed Media Artist Program is open for high school students aged 14-18 years and is taguht by Melbourne based artists Matthew Domenic Salvo.
During this 6 week course artists go through a series of drawing techniques and experimental projects based on different subject matter and mixed mediums. This practice will allow individuals to explore and develop their own drawing style and strengthen technical skills and applications whilst having lots of experimental fun along the way.
The premise for this short course is to provide a platform for artists to study technical drawing skills and concepts from practical based demonstration settings. During these art sessions we want you to carve your own artistic expression and develop a personal skill set and style to further yourself as the young budding artist you always imagined yourself to be.
Throughout each structured session we will go through a series of styles and technique to ensure that you achieve a greater concept and experience of making art. We want you to be playful, get your hands dirty with expressive and experimental art practices whilst having fun and loosening up all the creative juices from your mind to your fingertips. So, let’s make art together.
Make sure you wear appropriate clothing for a painting/drawing class! We will be working with charcoal and can get messy. free to also bring along any of your own materials from home.
A word from Matthew: As a practicing artist, it’s a pleasure to share basic conceptual and technical art skills to others. I firmly believes that there is an artist within every individual person and if you have a want to learn basic art skills then I would like to help you reach your greatest potential within the arts.
As an art facilitator I have the mindset that we are all equal artists. What that means to me is that when we are all learning together, we always inspire and influence one another with every thought and gesture that we create.
From a young age I had the privilege to learn art from some of the best teachers in Melbourne and from the inspiration of those teachers I crafted my own artistic styles and techniques that I’m happy to share with you today. As an art facilitator it is my pleasure to share some of those skills, techniques and concepts with you.
